BBC Weather Symbols
In 1974 Mark Allen, a 22 year old graphic designer studying at the Norwich School
of Art submitted a series of suggestions for
the improvement of the BBC's existing set
of weather symbols, including the use of a new cloud symbol. With some minor modifications, his symbols are still in use today. However, we noticed that the BBC does still not have symbols for fog, mist, hazy and sandstorm so a proposal was made to the BBC for the four missing symbols.
